Consequently, the learning objectives, the teaching approach and the contents of the master's degree are determined by the characteristics of the aforementioned examination.Īnother objective of this course is to provide solid, comprehensive, academic and essentially practical training for current professionals who wish to update their knowledge and develop their professional capacities: in other words, for those who wish to renew their professional skills. According to this Act, law graduates who wish to become qualified lawyers and practise the profession must first pass a specific training course and then sit a state examination. This master's degree aims to meet the requirements of Act 34/2006 on admission to the professions of lawyer and solicitor. The languages of instruction for this program are Spanish 50% Catalan 50%. This degree is addressed both to recent graduates intending to practise law, in compliance with the requirements set by Law34/2006, and to established professionals who wish to update their knowledge, work in a specific professional capacity or venture into the complex world of legal practice. It is both academic and eminently practical, and can be oriented toward developing a comprehensive set of professional capacities in the specific area of legal practice in which each student wishes to focus their professional activity. The course provides solid, integrated training based on the principle of excellence. Accordingly, the program is taught through the UB Faculty of Law and the Barcelona Bar Association (ICAB). It therefore covers the prerequisites for legal practice established by Law 34/2006 of 30 October on access to the professions of lawyer and solicitor and the corresponding regulations set out by Royal Decree 775/2011 of 3 June. She continues to moderate online public discussion and education fora.The master's degree in Legal Practice is designed to provide specialized training for legal experts who wish to focus their careers on practice as lawyers. Tricia is a former moderator of Barbados' leading current affairs radio programme, Down to Brasstacks. In addition to her legal qualifications, Tricia holds a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Durham, Durham Business School and has trained extensively in telecommunications regulation, utility regulation, competition law, and international arbitration, legislative drafting, regulation and policy. As a consultant, she has advised the Government of Barbados on legal and regulatory and policy matters related to the liberalisation and modernisation of the electricity sector. Tricia's utility regulation expertise was also brought to bear as first ever Chair of the Barbados Light and Power advisory Committee (2015 - 2017). She has since sat on the Working Group to update the Telecommunications Act and associated legislation. Tricia participated in the Government of Barbados' initial Telecommunications Working Group established in 1999 to design a national telecommunications policy and legislative framework to enable liberalisation of the sector, and had responsibility for preparing drafting instructions for the current Telecommunications Act and draft regulations. She also provides professional services to the Government of Barbados. Tricia provides corporate, commercial, regulatory and compliance services to small, medium and large companies. Tricia has substantial experience as in-house counsel at technology based companies, and honed her expertise as regulatory counsel over twenty years at Cable & Wireless and as a private practitioner providing regulatory advice and services to private sector clients and the Government of Barbados. Tricia Watson has over 25 years' experience as a practising Attorney-at-Law.
